How to read it

The report explicitly warns that its times are approximate and reconstructed from officers’ memories. Negative search results do not establish the absence of enemy carriers. Clock readings are not silently combined with the island or Japanese reports. Torpedo-hit timing and abandonment list differ from M18, which draws on the same underlying submissions; they are not independent confirmation.
